Since January 1, 2025, Thailand has completely switched to an online visa system. A significant difference is that now you do not have to stand in queues to submit documents to the embassy and that the visa will not be pasted into the passport — it will come by email.
The most important rule: you CANNOT apply for a visa online while in Thailand. You must apply in the country where you are physically located.
A trip to Laos gives you the opportunity to apply for any type of visa. Visarun is held once a week on Mondays. Domestic flight in Thailand from Bangkok to Nakhon Panom. Crossing the border in Mukdakhan, applying for a visa in Savannaket.
You only need to book a trip in advance. Departure is from Pattaya. If you are in other regions of Thailand (Samui, Phuket, Krabi, Hua Hin, etc.), you can join the group at Don Muang Airport.

Cost:
9,000 baht for those who don’t need visa to Laos,
11,000 baht for anyone who needs a visa to Laos itself (EU, UK, US, etc) + airfare and visa fee.
Surcharge for visa fee:
— 1000 baht for a tourist visa,
— for any Non-Immigrant visas (work, student, guardianship) — 2000 baht.
The cost of the trip includes: two nights at the hotel (in case of a longer visa wait, accommodation is paid separately), all transfers along the route, travel across the bridge of friendship, fee for entering Laos, submission of your documents online on the E-Visa website and case tracking, 2 breakfasts (second and third day), lunch on the first day.
If you are applying for a Non-B visa, please send the documents to the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Vientiane.
To apply for a tourist visa, the visa fee is 1000 baht, the following documents are required:
- Certificate from any bank in English about the movement of funds for three months with a balance of at least 20,000 baht
- Hotel reservation for 60 days in Thailand (can be made on booking with free cancellation)
- Booking a return ticket from Thailand (can be issued on the websites specifically for the visa)
For those who apply for NON visas (work, training, guardianship), you must have your own ready-made package of documents from schools, lawyers and employers. Surcharge for visa fee for any Non-Immigrant visas (work, student, guardianship) — 2000 baht.
Documents required to obtain a tourist visa:
- Certificate in English from any bank on the movement of funds for three months, with a balance of at least 20,000 baht. Every adult should have a certificate. For an adult with a child, the balance should be 40,000 baht.
The balance can be reflected in any currency, but in terms of baht the equivalent should be more than 20 thousand at the rate of a Thai bank (not a rate from Google, cryptocurrency, exchangers, etc.). There is a currency converter on the Bangkok Bank website
— If the certificate is provided by one of the spouses or for a family with a child, the original, a copy and free translation into English of the marriage certificate and birth certificate are required.

— If it is not possible to order a statement for three months in English in the application of your bank, then it is necessary to present a balance certificate in English of the same bank in addition to the Russian version of the certificate.

11:30 Lunch, during which we submit your applications and pay the visa fee

You receive a tourist visa, and upon returning to Thailand, you receive a 60-day stamp at the border. An extension for an additional 30 days can be obtained independently at the immigration office for 1,900 baht. This makes a total of 90 days. Residence registration is required for an extension.

In the event of a flight delay, cancellation, rescheduling, denial of boarding, or other force majeure circumstances, you are responsible for all additional expenses. Travel schedules and itineraries are subject to change. The embassy may reject a visa application if documents do not meet the requirements. Your passport must be valid for at least six months and contain at least three blank pages. It is not possible to cross the border with an old passport and obtain a visa in a new one. Any non-immigrant visas must be closed at the immigration office prior to travel. The fine for overstaying is 500 baht per day, up to a maximum of 20,000 baht.
